Established 1962
Four generations, one trade, same address
Roach Plumbing & Heating is a family and locally owned plumbing and heating shop at 5535 Greenwood Rd in Shreveport, working residential and commercial jobs across Caddo and Bossier parishes since 1962. Here is the whole story, not the short version.
Before the Roach name
The plumbers who came before the Roaches
Roach Plumbing & Heating counts itself as a second generation plumbing company, and the generation before it did not carry the Roach name at all. It traded as West End Plumbing Co, owned by a man named Louis Roach, with a helper named Mr. Brow and a horse named Ro-Hoe pulling the wagon between jobs.
A photograph survives from the late 1930s of the city's Master Plumbers lined up outside the old Hotel Youree downtown. Louis Roach is in it, front row, second man from the end. We do not know exactly how West End Plumbing Co became the company that opened in 1962, only that the name and the trade both trace back to it. It is close to a century of plumbers with the Roach name working Shreveport streets, most of it long before anyone reading this was born.
1962 to now
Five handovers in sixty-plus years
The business was established by Lal Roach in 1962, and he ran it for thirteen years until he retired in 1975. James Roach, Sr. took over, making Roach Plumbing & Heating a third-generation plumbing company in 1978. His brother Louis joined him in 1981, and the two brothers ran the shop together for years afterward. Ricky Johnson joined in 2014 as the office's administrative assistant, and is often the first voice you hear when the office line rings.
No single owner runs the company today in the way Lal or James, Sr. once did on their own. It is still family and locally owned, still answering the same phone number, and still doing residential and commercial plumbing at what the company has always called affordable prices.
One family, one trade, one Shreveport phone number, since 1962. License #LMP1321.

Licensed, and easy to check
We hold Louisiana State Plumbing Board license #LMP1321
The Plumbing Board issues Journeyman and Master Plumber credentials, and our license number is printed on everything we put our name to. Commercial work valued over $10,000 in labor and materials also requires a contractor license through the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, on top of the trade credential itself. Both licenses are free to verify on their own websites, so there is nothing to take our word for.
We work Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, Haughton, Greenwood, Stonewall, across Caddo and Bossier parishes.
After the fact
Rated 4.4 out of 5 from 57 Google reviews
“Outstanding service and pricing for all plumbing needs or repairs. I have been using this company for years and they have always been same or next day for all my service requests. Locally owned company. Recently replaced two toilets in our home by Rouch Plumbing and the cost was significantly less then multi service local companies in our city. Do yourself a favor and call Rouch Plumbing for your plumbing repairs.”
We are not going to dress that number up. It is the real figure, and it is the reason a repeat customer like the one above keeps calling the same shop instead of shopping around every time something breaks.
